While most women dream of having a happy, lasting and fulfilling family life, reality sometimes doesn't cooperate. Whether through divorce or the death of a spouse, it is easy to find yourself raising your children alone without the help of a husband. Supporting a family might be very tough, especially when you are a single mother. It could be that much harder in case your job options are limited because you haven't finished college.

Juggling child-raising and a job could be incredibly hard if you are doing it all yourself. Even if you could work in attending college classes on top of caring for your childrens' needs and working a job, college isn't inexpensive. Having been there, I realize that a helping hand with all the finances can be an absolute Godsend!

The good thing is that most universities offer college scholarships and grants specifically intended for single moms. All you have to do is find those schools -- and using the internet can make that job far, far easier. That's, IF you realize the right places to search. There probably are literally hundreds of colleges and universities that might offer grants, so checking each one directly could take a long, long time.

You might want to think about applying for a college scholarship like applying for a job. Make sure you make yourself presentable, and make sure all your essential papers are organized and ready. Most will expect you to provide transcripts or GPAs from any schools you have attended before, proof of one's High School graduation or a GED, and scores for SATs or ACTs from your senior year in case you have them (which you probably do).

There probably are lots of places you can then go to start your search. Ask for information from your state's department of education. Contact nearby schools directly and speak to their fiscal aid departments or guidance counselors. Some employers also offer support for employees who plan to continue their educations. Never forget the old standby, your public library, even in this electronic age.

The drawback of most of these methods is that they require a lot of time and effort on your part, looking up contact numbers, making phone calls, maybe visiting nearby schools. Favorable news is that lots of this can be done online. And if you make use of grant and scholarship aggregators, you can then cut the time it will take a LOT. I've provided a link to just one of the better aggregators below.

There may be all sorts of deals out there, but beware of scams because there probably are plenty of outfits out there who wish to victimize you. Check any scholarship deals that you really find, know all the requirements like transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays, and other main papers to prove your eligibility.

Since one of the biggest issues producing fiscal demands on the government is single-parent homes (usually single moms) living at or below the poverty line, there may be lots of government resources uncommitted to try that can help those single mothers lift themselves out of poverty, and educational grants and scholarships are just one of the biggest. That's what the money is for -- why not take advantage of it and make your life a little easier? Help your children' future by looking for a scholarship to help support your college needs. The new and better job that you are after is within your reach!
